![]() Often people who have been abused carry shame: they believe that the harm was their own fault. While such a question is delicate, the point of asking it has to do with shame, healing and the well-being of children. While most nightmares seem to be a way that our unconscious works out feelings that aren’t easily comfortable in waking life, such as harm coming to our children, or even our own feelings of anger or aggression (which can lead to dreams of “bad guys,” etc.) sometimes dreams seem a little extra vivid when it comes to themes of abuse.Īnd while it would be irresponsible to conclude anything about a person or their life based on a dream, the dreams in this particular category invite a compassionate question: could the dreamer have been abused in actuality in the past?
